Incomplete documentation

This is a DIY installation. The electrician in the installation video for the smart switch stated it is within DIY skill level. The battery pack arrived first and then the Explorer 5000. I connected the battery with both units off. The Explorer charged with the AC charging cable, the battery pack did not. The first support person said to push the display and power buttons. The 5000 does not have a button labeled display. The website troubleshooting has the same instructions only for other models. The second support person walked me through the correct procedure to reset the 5000 and it then charged the battery pack. The next issue was the battery not charging after connection to the smart transfer switch. I found tapping the battery charge indicator on the transfer switch in the app opens a screen with a charge now button that then fully charged the batteries. The working mode selection was set by default to only charge the batteries when the fell below 90%. None of this is in the printed or online documentation. I tested each of the 5000 outputs and everything is working. I still have three more circuits to move to the transfer switch before trying a power outage test. The equipment is well made and was well packaged. The documentation needs improvement.

Jackery Explorer 5000+Smart Transfer Switch

The product is beautifully designed, comes packaged well and works very well. The switching to the backup power is almost instantaneous during an outage. I would have given 5 stars but I believe that Jackery needs to improve on their new customer support, including a more detailed startup guide and live support. There are various settings and set up procedures that the average homeowner will need help with and it was not easy to finally get the needed help.
